Queen of The Shuk
Israeli Fashion Studio
For this look, I aimed to capture all the light and joy I experience at the Machaneh Yehuda Shuk in Jerusalem. Picture a ripe tomato nestled between a pungent fish and a sweet knafeh. The vibrant colors, the loud calls of vendors, and the excitement of preparing a Shabbat meal are palpable as you stroll through the Shuk's bustling stalls. I designed and hand-printed the fabric using silk screen printing, featuring various foods and architectural elements that highlight the Jewish-Arab connection present there. Additionally, I hand-sewed sunflower seeds onto the dress and gloves, a nod to the Israeli hutzpah that is so prevalent at Machaneh Yehuda.
